Are you driving around with your seatbelt light on checking Craigslist at stoplights hoping someone will post searching for a guitarist with a DS-1 and beginner chops but a deep love for Pavement, the Grifters, Silver Jews, Built to Spill, GBV, Can, Stax, Palace Brothers, Slint, Jesus Lizard, CCR, or anything that isn’t Radio/Grunge/Hick Hop/cover/tribute? Are you outside the age limit for college bands that are formed by friends who are waist deep in a culture of creativity? Did you help your brother load his band in to awesome venues 20 years ago and buy a drum set so you could do the same thing, but now the kit is covered in dust because you sucked at it? Do you want to play music you love while you learn with people who value originality, humor, responsibilities, and songwriting over pedal boards that have insurance policies, guitar experts with over specific, inflexible demands, and anything trending? Did you write a song and are too embarrassed to ask other musicians to help you flesh it out into a recording? Would you love to trade the fear that guides you for encouragement? I play bass.
