Description
Hi,
I’m looking for a mother-infant dyad based in New York City for a one-year infant observation seminar at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research -- ideally a mother who is due in Sept., October, or Nov., or who recently had a baby in the last couple months.
The purpose of the infant observation program is to study child development by observing a mother and infant in the natural environment of their home. As the infant observer, I’d come once a week for the first year of the baby’s life for an informal home visit at a time that is convenient for the family.
During the visit, I would pay attention to the development of the child, watching what normally occurs during that time of day and observing how the baby relates to caretakers. Mothers who have participated in the past have found the experience to be a highly rewarding one, which helps them reflect about parenting and infant development.
I’m currently a grad student at the CUNY Graduate Center and work in mother-infant nonverbal communication lab at Columbia University Medical Center / New York State Psychiatric Institute. Fully vaccinated and happy to observe any safety measures as desired by the family. Ideally looking for a dyad to observe in person but open to Zoom. I'm based in Clinton Hill / Navy yard, Brooklyn.
I’m happy to speak with any interested families over zoom to discuss further details.
