Happy Howl-o-ween! On Saturday, October 22, ghoulish golden retrievers, devilish dachshunds, and terrifying terriers will return to roam the streets of downtown Albany for the BID's annual dog trick-or-treating event: Hounds of Halloween! Dress up your pup for the Costumed Canine Contest and stop by local businesses for unique Halloween treats for pups and people. Each registered dog will have their photo taken for the costume contest, and the winner will be determined by public vote via a Facebook photo album. The top three best-dressed pets and their paw-rents will receive Downtown Albany Gift Cards, special surprises and bragging rights! Registration is per pet and $10 in advance through Eventbrite or $15 cash, credit, or Venmo at the event, with proceeds benefiting the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Advance ticket sales end at 12:00 PM on October 21. Your registration will get you a guide to all the stops and an exclusive Hounds of Halloween trick-or-treating tote bag (limited to the first 300 pets registered). Start your trick-or-treat adventure at either of these pet-friendly locations: The Olde English Pub & Pantry patio (683 Broadway)The Olde English Downtown Dog Park (119 N Pearl Street)Photographers will be on-hand at both locations to take your costumed canine's photo for the contest throughout the day.
