Description
Join us for a night of celebration as we come together to celebrate 30 years of the Love Life Foundation. You will enjoy an evening of live music by Griff Hamlin and the Single Barrel Blues Band , food and beverages from your favorite local retauraunts, and a variety of silent and live auction items for you to bid on and take home! We can't wait to celebrate with you. As we reflect on the last 30 years of helping others love life, I am reminded of that December night in 1992 that started our mission. We woke up to the worst ice storm I had witnessed since my return to Texas just five years before. Although caution had us question whether we should move forward with a previously planned fund-raising event that evening, we decided to proceed. That night, despite the icy road barriers, our tribe of supporters helped us raise $3,200 dollars to assist a local home of single moms and their babies have a much-needed Christmas with clothing and supplies. After the event, George and I stayed up for hours, affirmed in the accomplishment and excited about the prospect of growing the endeavor into something that could have an even greater impact. The Love Life Foundation was born, though little did we know it would become such a vital part of our life together. Although our focus has primarily been providing aid to those in our community and the surrounding region, we have found our footing helping at-risk women and children across the globe. For almost a decade, we have been actively involved in a free childcare center in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, called Casa des Los Angeles or “House of Angels," where we established a music festival to raise funds to keep that viable ministry alive. Love Life also took on the challenge to bring running water and electricity to the St. Yared Orphanage in Axum Ethiopia where we later adopted our daughter Milyan. During that mission, we also helped St. Yared establish a relationship with a more sophisticated orphanage in Addis Ababa that provided a conduit and opportunity for their children to be adopted. Today, the average number of children in St. Yared is less than 40, down from 330 when we first got involved. To date, with the help of so many, we have dispersed well over two million dollars to agencies that help with food insecurity, clothing, utilities, counseling, and so much more. The focus of Love Life remains our local community; as we are one of the fastest-growing cities and counties in the country, the need here grows. We thank each of you for your love and support over the last 30 years. Together we continue to make a difference. Love Life- Maylee & the Mayor
