After a decade of providing life-changing trauma-informed aquatic therapy to veterans, active-duty military, and their caregivers who struggle with Post Traumatic Stress in San Diego, Healing Wave Aquatics finally opened our own facility. The facility soft opened in June 2022 and started serving clients.This will be our big Grand Opening Celebration kicking off our official opening. This has been a dream of the organization since its inception, the organization previously provided our warm water therapy in private and partner pools. After having to close for public health and safety during the COVID-19 shutdowns in 2020, the organization used that time to develop a 3-year strategic plan. The largest and most daunting task in that plan was opening our own state-of-the-art facility. In just 18 months the organization raised the original $1M goal, and the additional $200k in costs from COVID-19-related delays and shortages, totaling $1.2M and completed an entire renovation and construction. Healing Wave Aquatics is excited to be in our new home and with this new facility can serve double the amount of veteran clients served, participate in research, and expand our program to other vulnerable populations in San Diego, as well as offer our therapy to the public for a fee. There will be a small ribbon-cutting ceremony and program, followed by food and refreshments, and facility tours.
