Understanding Small Talk: Why it’s Important and How to Participate with Confidence
In the U.S., “small talk” (polite conversation about seemingly unimportant or uncontroversial topics) is an expected form of communication in the workplace and classroom as well as in social situations. However, many international students report feeling awkward or even confused about this form of casual communication.
Join us to explore why small talk is considered important in U.S. culture. Have fun practicing the skills needed to initiate small talk, keep the conversation going, and end politely.
