Description

National Congressional Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims On October 4, 2007, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed Resolution 326 establishing September 25th of every year as a National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims citing “it is important to honor and remember murder victims because the pain of losing a loved one through murder is so great. This day will help honor the memories of murder victims and recognize the impact on surviving family members.” Mothers In Charge is proud to sponsor “A Day of Healing and Hope” in Philadelphia especially as we have seen an increase in homicides in our beloved city. The event is in alignment with the resolution as “A Day of Healing and Hope” is focused not only on remembering those lost to homicide, but it is also an opportunity for Dr. Dorothy Johnson-Speight to pay tribute to fellow survivors, family members of victims of gun violence and organizations that provide services to the loved ones. Keynote Speaker: Fox Rich, author and star of Time Documentary Special invited guests include Dr. Jean Wright, Deputy Commissioner DBHIDS and a host of many other prominent figures advocating for healing. Parents, family and loved ones of murder victims are invited to attend. Join us on this National Day of Remembrance as we commemorate lives lost to homicide in Philadelphia. We believe we can get through this together, as community united. Attendees of this event will be treated to a catered lunch while they receive support and reminders of hope through reflections from families and professional speakers.
