Rehoming 14 month old black lab mix

Description

I am heartbroken, but my husband and I want to ensure our pup has the best quality of life. We are rehoming this rescued 14 month old male beautiful black lab mix (probably mixed with either australian shepherd or chow chow or something else lol). We rescued him from CMPD animal shelter. Weight is at 40lbs. Nuetered, microchipped, and UTD on all shots/vaccines. While he thinks he’s a lap dog and will nap with you, he’s also high energy and loves to meet new adults and dogs (with of course safe & controlled meet with dogs). We do not know about his interaction with kids or cats. He is sometimes nippy out of excitement but never bites out of aggression/fear. That’s due to his young age, breed, and never receiving training till we rescued him. Because of that, we only recommend teens/older kids. We adopted him in hopes he’d be our forever four-legged family member but we feel he’d be happier and better with someone with a fenced in yard because of his energy and still learning the leash. He would thrive so much being able to run off all his energy freely in a secure lot. Near our property also has very sweet off leash dogs, but because Louis is a rescue and for safety reasons he can’t roam free. It’s not fair for this high energy breed to be leashed everytime we leave the house. We are working on leash training as best as we can until he’s re-homed. Since we’ve had him, he now knows most basic commands (Sit, Down, Stay, Break, etc.). He would be great with someone who is dedicated and plenty of time for training! He is very food motivated! Loves watermelon, peanut butter, naps, sticks, chew toys, tug of war, chasing his tail, car rides, and naps. We will require a rehoming fee for safety, proof of veterinary, adoption paperwork, and microchip transfer. We live in Union County near Indian Trail and would love to meet you.
