Description
We are a power trio looking to add an additional harmonic and melodic element to broaden our sound and jams by adding some keys. We practice regularly (every other week given work and other music-making schedules, but are trying to build back to once a week). We mostly play originals but do like a good cover if it works for us.
We are a psychedelic band. To us, this means being in tune with the music we play. We like drones psych, we like Grateful Dead psych, we like obscure organ and heavy fuzz psych. We work within traditional song forms, although we improvise and jam at some point in about 80% of our tunes. Some songs are three minutes; some songs are seven minutes; sometimes we just play and see what happens and run songs into each other.
Influences are all over the place, including but certainly not limited to: Rolling Stones, Moby Grape, the Dead, Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, Trad Gras Och Stenar, Pavement, Elizabeth Cotton, the Beatles, John Coltrane, Neil Young... you name it, really.
We are in our 40s, but down to play with anyone, 20 years younger or 20 years older. We enjoy smoking a joint, drinking some beer and jamming the shit out of our tunes for a few hours. We have a clutch of new tunes that we'd love to develop more, record, and play out. We have a repertoire of 20-30 songs that we play at any given time. Recordings of recent practices and previous incarnations are available upon request.
We have a practice space with amps but you'd need your own keyboard. Singing is a plus, but not required. If you have your own tunes and they fit in with the vibe, we are always down to play them. If you like to collaborate or arrange and have new ideas for old songs, we are open and flexible. We play in Gowanus.
If any of this sounds good to you, we'd love to meet and play and see how it goes... call, text or email all okay.
