Description A one hour course covering many of the most common design challenges regarding fire / life safety and egress. Case studies will be used from built projects, showing creative and safe solutions. We will look at design possibilities that solve code issues yet still have the design be open, and still safe for occupants. New products in the market will be discussed and evaluated. Different building occupancies will be covered. Learning Objectives By completing this course, the design professional will be able to: 1. A look at Alternate Methods to meet the intent of the IBC, and Common Misconceptions. 2. Wide Span Opening Protectives and Open Design. 3. Horizontal Exits, egress, and Convenience Stairways. 4. Vertical openings and atriums.
