Some of our talking points will be but not limited to the following topics. - Why is it important to close the last youth prison in Kansas and how does that affect the community? Kansas continues to lock up youth at high rates, criminalizing youth of color in particular. KJCC, a facility that closely resembles an adult prison. - How we can implement a plan to protect the reinvestment dollars of Senate Bill 367. reduce youth incarceration and reinvest money from a former youth prison into community-based youth services. - The plan leading up into election season to gain support & engagement around eliminating fines and fees in Kansas. This financial burden forces young people deeper into the system for failure to pay.
