This is a new position that works closely with our Facilities Director to support the systems and functions that are critical to serving families, students, and missionaries in a multi-divisional structure. Located in beautiful Fairhaven, Hillcrest Chapel is a Christian non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization composed of over 50 employees and three divisions: Hillcrest Church, Bellingham Chi Alpha, and Hillcrest Kids Early Learning. Hillcrest Church | Bellingham Chi Alpha | Hillcrest Kids Early Learning | Position Offerings Title: Facilities Assistant Available: Immediately Schedule: Part-time, 20 to 25 hours/week with flexible scheduling. Schedule must include the minimum 4-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 9AM. Reports to: Facilities Director Pay: Hourly, non-exempt, $18.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience and skills. Position Duties • Analyze and identify faults or problems in equipment and machinery and keep them in working order. • Secure and control access to the building as instructed to maintain safety and facilitate scheduled events. • Report environmental hazards, needs and concerns to appropriate staff and actively participate in keeping our facilities safe and welcoming. • Perform cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements as delegated by the Facilities Director. • Maintain the grounds related to our multiple properties including mowing, weeding, fertilization, aeration, and trash pick-up. • Serve as the back-up for the Facilities Director and help provide continuous maintenance coverage. • Serve as an alternate for other custodians who are on leave and help provide continuous custodial coverage. • Other limited duties as directed by the Facilities Director to maintain continuous coverage and support within the facilities department.  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Candidates must meet all of the requirements listed below: • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. • Meet the minimum physical requirements: o Stand and move around for entirety of each shift; o Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch; o Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted; o Carry up to 30 pounds on back unassisted; and o Operate power equipment and use extension cords safely. • Maintain a self-set pace, completing all periodic cleaning assignments. • Display an inherent attention to detail, actively searching for improvement opportunities. • Be trustworthy and attentive to the working environment. • Conduct oneself professionally while being approachable to employees, volunteers and visitors. • Communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers. • Develop through training, feedback and constructive criticism. Preferred Qualifications Applicants will still be considered without meeting the preferred qualifications. These preferred qualifications will be developed within the position. • Knowledge of and/or experience with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). • Knowledge of and/or experience with electrical. • Knowledge of and/or experience with plumbing.
