FRASER, MI — Three juveniles could face the rest of their lives in prison after they were charged as adults in connection to a deadly stabbing that left one dead and two injured just outside two Fraser schools, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said. All three juveniles were charged with one count of felony murder and one count of first-degree home invasion, officials said. The felony murder charge carries a life sentence and the first-degree home invasion carries a 20-year sentence. One of the juveniles was also charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, which also carries a life sentence, while the other two were charged with two counts of assault and battery, which carries a 93-day misdemeanor, officials said. All three juveniles were placed in the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center with no bond, officials said. Their next court date is scheduled for Sept. 28 at 8:30 a.m. "This tragedy forever changed the lives of the families involved," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said. "We seek justice for the victims and ask that their privacy be respected." Police arrested the juveniles on Sept. 14 after a stabbing left one person dead and two others injured in the area of Garfield and Klein at 4:30 p.m. near the campuses of Fraser High School and Richards Middle School. Although the stabbing did not happen at the schools, the incident was close enough to send the schools into a "brief" lockdown, police said. The juveniles in the fight were students from nearby Fraser schools, and police believe the stabbings resulted from a confrontation after they left the high school. Parents of one juvenile police arrested said their son was acting in self-defense, telling WXYZ a gang of teenagers tried breaking into their house. "They came in with knives and ski masks, and they were really trying to kill our kids," Laura Hibbert told the news station.
