Senior big dog, needs home

Description
I'm just seeing what's out here as a possibility but I have a very happy loving well behaved bid dog who needs a home. He is neutered and doesn't have much wrong besides sore hips. He is prone to ear infections and needs his ears cleaned often. I'm really really hurting to find him a home because I wanted to let him live his days out with us but life demands as it does. He was my dad's dog, my dad died of cancer 4 years ago and now my grandparents need routine daily care hundreds of miles away so I simply cannot give him the love and companionship he needs. He has no issues with cats, other dogs of any size, kids, chickens, no prey drive. He has basic commands and recall. We don't have a fenced yard and it's not been any issue. Loves water, used to love going to the pond with my dad and rides fine in a car or truck. His hips and age though mean he can't be as active as he'd like. He loves to chase a ball but tires easily. Mostly he wants to lay on a soft rug in a room near you. He takes to nail trims well and doesn't bark much. I think he'd be happy if there were other pets in the house but if a person was home all the time I would say yes to that. He tells you when he needs to go out and is scared of thunder storms. He's a beautiful dog but I haven't been able to groom him lately. Between working and caring for my grandparents I have no time and I feel so bad. He is likely 11-14 ish, we don't know, my dad rescued him a decade ago and he was definitely mid life then. Please feel free to reach out, I'm not judgemental when it comes to home, mine is an awful mess but I do need proof you either own your home or you are allowed to have him where you live. He's large but has lived in an apartment before and has been fine as long as you take him out daily to touch grass. He doesn't chew or destroy things. Doesn't go wild at the door, does jump up, and is very very tolerant of kids bugging him. He is half Aussie and half retriever. Photos and videos available and no rehoming fee but you have to buy a bag of his food and I'd like to see him get a vet appointment for his check up. Would love to get updates occasionally. And if you ever needed to give him up, keep him somewhere temporarily or permanently or need help with vet care for him I will always take him back or offer what help I can. He just needs love.
