THE BRONX, NY – A major water main break closed down the Cross Bronx Expressway Thursday, stranding motorist and causing hours-long delays on the George Washington Bridge. The break happened at Jerome Avenue and West 175th Street around 3 a.m. and forced the closure of all southbound lanes, the FDNY and the Office of Emergency Management said. UPDATE: Flooding condition: all southbound lanes of the Cross Bronx Expressway remain closed at Jerome Avenue in The Bronx. Expect delays in both directions. Consider alt routes.
