Description
Two weeks ago Joe Biden gave a national address in front of Independence Hall and declared "MAGA Republicans to be "extremists."
Over the weekend: A 41-year-old man ran over and killed an 18-year-old boy because he considered him a "Republican extremist."
Is there a connection between Joe Biden's comments and the murder?
The murder took place in McHenry, North Dakota on Sunday when 41-year-old Shannon Brandt got into an argument with 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson over politics.
Things turned deadly when Brandt used his truck to run over the teenager and fled the scene.
Around 2:30 am, a drunk Brandt called 911 and confessed to the murder, telling the dispatcher the boy was part of a "Republican extremist group."
According to his mother, Ellingson called her shortly before he was murdered saying he was being chased, and asked her if she knew his soon-to-be killer. The mother did know him from the small town but does not believe her son knew him prior to that night.
According to police, Ellingson was out with a group of young people taking part in a "street dance" [I have no idea what that is]. And after it wrapped up, he noticed Brandt was following him. Police said:
“We do not know of any witnesses. We are still making attempts to interview potential witnesses from the street dance, people that were present prior to the crash happening.”
The politics: As of right now, this murder has not been reported by CNN. It has not been reported by the New York Times. But if the roles were reversed - and it was a Republican, inspired by Trump, who murdered a teenage Democrat - do you think they would report on the story? Of course they would.
Oh Ellingston is not under arrest as of Thursday.
