NEW CITY, NY — A Connecticut man faces charges of driving while intoxicated after a Tuesday night traffic stop on the New York State Thruway. At 10:20 p.m., New York State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Clarkstown for a vehicle and traffic violation. Police said they concluded the driver, Samuel Johnson, 32, of Hamden, CT, was intoxicated. Johnson was taken into custody, transported and processed at state police barracks in Tarrytown where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.21 percent, police said. He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, an Unclassified Misdemeanor. He was given an appearance ticket to appear in Clarkstown town court Jan. 25 and turned over to a sober third party.
