Body positivity refers to the notion that all people deserve to have a positive body image. Some of the goals of the body positivity movement include:
Challenging how society views the body
Promoting acceptance of all
Helping individuals build confidence
Addressing unrealistic body standards
This movement is not just about challenging how society views physical appearance, it also recognizes that judgments are often based on race, gender, sexuality, and disability. Being body positive also aims to help people understand how media can contribute to the relationship that people have with their bodies.
Help us challenge unrealistic body standards and advocate for the acceptance of all bodies, regardless of size, shape, skin tone, gender or physical abilities-- Starting with ourselves.
