We're Jowls! and we're trying to find a drummer ASAP. We have an EP that we're gearing up to record, demos are (mostly) finished and the next step is to 1. start learning the songs as a full band so we can start gigging regularly. We've played one show with our previous drummer (ily will) and had a blast, we'd love to get back into it as soon as we can! 2. Start the live recordings for the final product of the EP. We're tryna knock this out by new years and we'll need someone who can commit to practicing once a week. Ideally looking for someone with a background in jazz drumming, our live sound can get pretty fill heavy. Experience in triggering samples is also a plus. We eventually wanna incorporate more electronic elements into our live sets which would include you playing along to a drum machine/samples. There is a lot of room for collaboration right now because all of our demos have programmed drums. In terms of our sound, we like to describe ourselves as post punk, noise rock, industrial, electronic, high energy, super dance-y and kinda scary. Some of our influences include deerhoof, swirlies, swans, unwound, black midi, LCD soundsystem, glenn branca, death grips, and MAYA era M.IA. We also love hyper pop, gabber, and rave (stabscotch, giant swan, dreamcrusher, Arca, eartheater, alice glass, Dorian Electra, the list goes on but we will spare you for now) and wouldn't be opposed to pulling more influence from these genres in the future. We are a bunch of Gen Z's after all. You don't have to know and love all of these artists but it would be awesome if everyone was equally excited about the sound we've been forming as a band.
