Description

Join us on October 6, 2022 for the 4th annual Story Slam which will feature compelling personal stories from community members and LISC partners responding to a common theme: The Color of Impact. Their stories, filled with humor, pain, energy, love, reflections, and more, will offer perspectives on embarking on new chapters – and what it means for our collective work creating stable, affordable and healthy housing and economic opportunity; building financial stability, promoting racial equity and building thriving communities. Our 2022 storytellers, pictured from left: Brittany Hendricks, Erika Parker-Smith, Keisha Greaves, Lei Nichols, and Nikia LondyBrittany Hendricks: Interdisciplinary artist who pursued higher education and vocational training through a partnership program at JVS and MassHire. By centering their creative practice around stories that bind the focus, subjects and processes occurring internally and externally, Brittany’s work interacts with time and reality through animated manipulation of motions, materials, and media. Erika Parker-Smith: Multi-hyphenate, multi-passionate wild woman, wife, and mother at the intersections of corporate America, grassroots community work, and creative endeavors as a maker and writer. Keisha Greaves: Founder of Girls Chronically Rock and motivational speaker who talks about spreading awareness of Muscular Dystrophy, balancing life with chronic illnesses, raising money for causes, advocating for disability, and other related topics. Lei Nichols: Owner of Wise Mouth Teas, as well as an immigrant, single mother, and educator. In 2016, Lei opened her business to bring the best health, drink, and food to America and to her daughters' and students' lives. Nikia Londy: Hair Augmentation Specialist and the Founder and CEO of Intriguing Hair who recently became the co-owner of a mixed-use commercial and residential building.
