Description
Join us to celebrate the release of Jeff Angeley's first slo album, and take in an evening of music that features Pebbles of Rain, and Allan Sizemore on tour from West Virginia! Pebbles of Rain are a songwriting and arranging collaborative band consisting of Jeff Angeley, fiddler, songwriter, and vocalist extraordinaire Samantha Babineau, all terrain guitarist and tunesmith Steven Brum, and multi-instrumentalist, minimalist composer, and jolly mensch Christian Camarao. Their eclectic acoustic sound utilizes acoustic and electric guitar, fiddles, banjos, glockenspiel, bass, accordion, hambone, and mixed percussion and their sound draws from a wide variety of sources incorporating elements of American traditional music, folk, jazz, classical, punk rock, country, polyphonic drumming traditions, Celtic music, and indie/alternative music. Allan Sizemore is bringing his brand of down home, songs from the heart straight up from Lewisburg West Virginia for this show. New Bedford audiences will recognize him from his past tours with The Rust Kings and also The Wild Rumpus. As the primary songwriter of one , one of the primaries for the other, and multi-instrumental and vocal performer for both he's toured up and down the East Coast and played such prestigious festivals as the annual Merlefest in North Carolina that regularly draws 75,000 plus attendees. His solo work is equally impressive and his performances are emotional and captivating. Jeff Angeley has been a major player and songwriter for several albums, but a solo release has never happened before this year. Angeley is known for his work with Jeff&Benares, The Mud Daubers, The Barley Stompers, Rusty String Band, Pumpkin Head Ted, Wabi Sabi including the late trio edition of that band that went on to become the Jethros, Toe Jam Puppet Band, and the social traditional music gatherings under the umbrella of Old Time Fiddle Session. He grew up listening to Spike Jones, Count Basie, Willie Nelson, the Muppets (ahhh the Muppets), Sing Along with Mitch records, early and mid 20th century show tunes, Brass bands, Rubber bands, Western swing bands, String bands, Experimental bands, The Carpenters, Motown, and Mighty Windish goofy folk revivalist acts like "Sing Along with Mitch". Later in life he found his way to the beauty of field recorded traditional music, punk rock, bluegrass, old time, and bop jazz. His current album is a "Yes, and..." to all of those things he's heard and been. There's a tip of the hat, an acknowledgement of influence, and a pushing forward into new territory forged in communion with The Muse to make something new of the essential elements: emotion, sound, and translation of the untamable strange electric energy that flows from the source.
