Description

The Esplanade Association, in partnership with Brookline Bird Club, will be leading a leisurely guided bird walk along the park – great for beginners and experts alike! We will walk around 1 mile, identifying birds and learning how to use binoculars and field guides. We will have limited binoculars to share – if you have any, please bring them along. The Esplanade is home to a variety of species from songbirds to waterfowl and of course - the Esplanade's beloved swan family that has captured the hearts of many since May 2021. You can view the latest sightings on the Esplanade on eBird. No prior birding experience is necessary and everyone is welcome; jumpstart your day with some birding! All Guided Bird Tours will meet outside Community Boating's main entrance. We will walk along the Charles River Esplanade from the Longfellow Bridge upriver looking for birds on both land and water. We hope to see a range of spring migrants as well as year round natives and birds setting up their breeding territories. ABOUT OUR GUIDED TOUR SERIES We will walk along the Charles River Esplanade from Community Boating upriver looking for birds on both land and water. We hope to see a range of fall migrants as well as year round birds. This bird walk is part of the Esplanade Association’s guided tour series. Join the Esplanade Association each month to learn about the ins and outs of the park, from our history to our trees! You can find a calendar of all of our guided tours on our website. ABOUT BROOKLINE BIRD CLUB The Brookline Bird Club (BBC) is the largest, and one of the oldest and most active of the bird clubs in the US. They sponsor an active program of year-round field trips, covering the entire state of Massachusetts from the Berkshires to Stellwagen Bank, New England and beyond. Your suggested donation of $10 would support the Esplanade Association's work to revitalize, enhance, program and maintain the Charles River Esplanade. Thank you!
