Description

The Hand, Heart, and Soul Project values the genius and expert within our own community. Southern Roots convenes Clayton residents , business owners and stakeholders and provides a place for dialog and delicatable cuisine. It provides a safe(r) place to engage community members. This installment of Southern Roots seeks to connect community members and community leaders who are passionate and committed to lifting holistic early education. It seeks to connect early childhood professionals, including teachers, directors and owners as well as the community at large. Businesses are encouraged to attend as we work to form partnerships within our community. Early education is more than teaching ABC's, but it also serves as a foundation for strong communities and later outcomes. In addition to hearing from the established owner of a long standing Clayton County early childhood program, we will discuss the teacher workforce shortage, how entities have worked together to increase funding to the industry, and the importance of health and nutrition in early childhood environments. Let's talk about this and more as we break bread in our second installment of Southern Roots. If you are an educator, this is for you. If you are a parent of a young child, this is for you. If you are from the faith community, this is for you. If you are a local leader, this is for you.If you are a business person interested in learning how you can support Clayton County early education needs, this is for you.If you are a champion and already believe in the importance of early education, this conversation is for you. We will have tasty treats provided from 11:00-11:30, during our meet and greet. The panel discussion and Q and A, will immediately follow. Panelists include: Erica K. Dotson, Ph.D., Professor of Teacher Education and French, Clayton State University Monica Griffin, MS, RD, LD, Quality Care for Children Darrell Holcomb, Clayton County, Georgia Department of Public Health Ada Ngoddy, Owner, Rex Childcare and Early Learning Center Discussion will be moderated by Kelcie Silvo, Voices for Georgia's Children.
