On Saturday 10/22/2022 we are sponsoring TWO Intensive Training Seminars on ONE DAY...one focusing on learning the techniques of the Nunti Bo (a spear with hooks...a truly high-level and rare weapon from Okinawa) from Ryukyu Kobudo and the other focusing on drills & skills to develop Natural Speed Through Explosive Hips that will help practitioners of Karate-Do, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, etc. make efficient and continued progress! The teacher for the intensive seminars will be Mr. Roger Wehrhahn, Kyoshi, a long-time martial arts teacher and practitioner who has been recognized with high-level Dan (Black Belt) grades in Karate-Do, Kobudo and Iaido. Wehrhahn Shihan has been training in the martial arts since 1969! Training for the intensive seminars will be held in-person at the Karate Quest Dojo in Port Jervis, NY and also via ZOOM (all attendees will receive a link/passcode for access via ZOOM and also have access to a raw recording of the training). The first intensive seminar of the day (taking place on Saturday 10/22/2022 Noon-1:30 pm) will focus on the working with and learning the techniques of the Nunti Bo. Wehrhahn Shihan will cover 12 methods of blocking and 12 methods of striking along with the kata (formal exercise) Chinshi no Nunti Bo. This weapon is rarely taught with such detail! All seminar participants will need to wear a proper martial arts uniform (there are no shoes allowed on the training floor) and have a bo (staff...preferably made of a hardwood such as red oak about one inch thick and appropriate to the height of the seminar participant). If you have a nunti bo you may use that but, in consideration of the rarity /expense of the weapon a bo may be used for training in the seminar). There are also going to be some creative suggestion to have a "temporary" nunti bo for the seminar! Seminar participants will need one sai/manji sai to simulate a throw during the practice of the kata. In the second intensive seminar of the day (taking place on Saturday 10/22/2022 1:30-3:00 pm) Wehrhahn Shihan will focus on very specific drills on the natural mechanics of punches, strikes and kicks. The drills are designed to make movements faster, easier and ensure continued progress when practice regularly. Instead of just being told to go faster now there will be tools to directly help that process...this will be high-level stuff! All seminar participants will need to wear a proper martial arts uniform (there are no shoes allowed on the training floor). The training for both intensive seminars will be vigorous...it is highly recommended that the seminar participants bring bottled water/sports drinks along with light/healthy snacks. You may train in ONE or BOTH of the intensive seminars. They are open to adults (ages 18+). Space is limited! If you are able to attend, please register on or before 10/20/2022. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of each intensive seminar!
