Nothing Special is something very special! Join us for a Storytime at the Detroit Public Library’s Children’s Department to experience a beautiful story about a boy name Jax and his Pop Pop! As the author, Desiree Cooper reads to the audience, she will connect the importance of black family survival during the Great Migration where over six million African Americans left the Jim Crow South to Jax’s grandfathers’ childhood.
Nothing Special celebrates the enduring connections between the generations who stayed in the South, and the millions of emigrants for whom it will always be home. This in-person event, free parking is available in the staff lot, customers must use Cass Ave. entrance.
