HUNTINGTON, NY — The Jan. 15 deadline for Town of Huntington businesses to apply for Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funding, made available to the town under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Securities (CARES) Act, is approaching, according to a news release. "Businesses with fewer than 50 full-time employees are eligible for up to $25,000, based on the number of full or part-time employees on a first-come, first-served basis for those who qualify," Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said via news release. "We don't want our Huntington business owners and job creators to miss out on this opportunity going into 2021." In September 2020, the Town of Huntington was told that it received additional funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to prepare for, respond to, and prevent the coronavirus. The funding, worth $1,359,910, was awarded through the CDBG-CV program and is available to people and businesses that have been directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and to those community agencies that provide direct help to the township's residents. The Huntington Community Development Agency oversees the application and disbursement process on behalf of the Town. Businesses seeking assistance are advised to complete the Economic Development application; in order to determine eligibility, businesses can read all of the related documentation prior to submitting the application.Community service agencies were advised to complete the CDBG-CV application. People or families seeking rental assistance or economic relief for overdue utility bills should fill out the CDBG-CV Income Verification Form Tenant and the Landlord agreement form. The deadline for all applications is 4 p.m. Jan. 15. More info and applications can be found on the Town of Huntington website.
