Each fall, we bring grieving families within our community together at Niederman Family Farm for COJ’s Annual Teen and Family Bonfire Night. It’s part of our Pathway to Healing Series for families and teens and is one of our most anticipated events of the year. This fun-filled evening features a host of family-friendly activities on the farm, smores, and a memorial remembrance ceremony in honor of loved ones lost. At COJ, we recognize that shared grief can be complicated. Bereaved family members often don’t want to burden one another with their grief, so they avoid the topic altogether. Tragically, this can create unintentional rifts in family relationships, which can then lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness if conversations are avoided for too long. We’re committed to exploring innovative ways to help your family overcome common communication barriers by allowing your family to experience moments of joy with others who ‘get it’ and equipping your family members with tools for encouraging one another.
