A Journey to New Hope This documentary short, by filmmaker Brian Ellison, shows the many nuances of the criminal justice system and how it directly impacts children, families and communities in Oklahoma. Brian's lived experience provides a unique perspective of growing up with incarcerated parents, in Tulsa, OK. Through a collaboration with the nonprofit, New Hope Oklahoma, the film shares the intimate stories of youth and their caregivers, served by the organization. The mission of New Hope Oklahoma is to end generational incarceration, one child at a time. Event Schedule 6:00-7:00 PM- Join us for a reception with filmmaker, Brian Ellison and the staff and board of directors of New Hope Oklahoma. Light bites and one complimentary bar beverage included in ticket purchase. 7:00 PM- Screening of A Journey to New Hope 7:30-8:00 PM- Panel Discussion with Brian Ellison, New Hope staff and clients. About the Filmmaker: Brian Ellison, a Tulsa native, is a philanthropist and a self-taught photographer, cinematographer, and conceptual visual artist. He is the director and cinematographer of the film UnMASKulinity. Brian believes there is no limit to self-expression and that art is a universal language that can be the catalyst for healing. Through his lens, Brian documents the everyday Black experience such as gentrification's impact on historical communities, under-publicized Black love and comradery, parenthood, and the persistent courage of Black women and men.
