Description

We're tying some of our favorite things in the world together here at the District, heavy lifting and furry animals! In an effort to utilize our platform and community that we've built here at the District Training Facility to provide some good to the world, we are hosting our first ever Pull for a Paws "Lift-a-Thon" on October 22, 2022 at 10am! We will be hosting an unsanctioned powerlifting meet style event with athlete's performing 1 event only, everyone's favorite - THE DEADLIFT. All proceeds for this event will go to a local organization that we as coaches feel a personal connection to, the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter! The shelter for almost 50 years, has been providing exceptional care for homeless animals, working tirelessly to find a permanent, loving home for every cat and dog they serve. "Our priority is to save abandoned animals within our community; however, our efforts don’t end there. We also partner with shelters around the country to save at risk animals from being euthanized. Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter never euthanizes any animal for time or space reasons. Adoptable animals reside with us until they find their forever home. We become their loving family until they become a part of yours. Mt. Pleasant animal shelter is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that is solely funded by contributions, grants and bequests." - Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter. Here's how it works! Similar to a walk-a-thon, all ATHLETES have to find a minimum of 3 "sponsors." Each sponsor can pledge a fixed amount to donate to the fundraiser, OR they can give their sponsoring athlete a little extra motivation by tying a pledge to the amount they "total." A "total" similar to powerlifting meets, is the summation of the heaviest lifts in each respective event, however, in our lift-a-thon it will consist of the summation of the successful deadlift attempts! Each lifter will be given 3 attempts for their deadlift (1 repetition each), and each completed attempt will contribute to the total. The way the "pledge per pound" will work, is for example: A lifter attempts 200lbs, 250lbs, and 300lbs and successfully completes all three attempts, the lifter's total would be 750lbs. If a sponsor commits to $0.10 per pound, the sponsor would be then committing to $75, if they wish to pledge higher or lower than that, that is okay as well! Sponsors will be given options to pledge, BUT any donation can help and would be greatly appreciated! Here's how to sign up: Click this link: pay the "entry fee" which will provide a voucher to compete in the fundraiser, you will be provided an event t-shirt, and there will be prizes for varying reasons (heaviest lift, most fundraised, etc.) ATHLETE SIGN UP To Register Sponsors: If you are an athlete and need to send your sponsors the form or are looking to sponsor an athlete, you can send over the link down below! SPONSOR FORM If you simply want to spectate: This is a donation based event. While there is no specified or recommended donation to spectate, donations are required for entry to spectate! Please give what you are comfortable doing. And we are excited to see you there!
