Description

During the late 1920s, a walk around West Haven's Center District may have taken you past Hall Organ Company at 678 Campbell Avenue, as well as "a collection of oddball, light industrial small business operations," such as a garage-sized candy manufacturer at 277 and a half Center Street; a backyard carpentry shop at 210 and a half Washington Avenue; and a blacksmith on North Street. The Connecticut Company maintained a trolley-car barn at the corner of Campbell and Brown, and the West Haven Buckle Factory was producing where Washington Street meets the railway. For many today, the Center Green is a treasured landmark in West Haven and a destination for outdoor excursions. Dave Carr has been making videos of his walking and bicycle tours using the hashtag #wonderfulwesthaven. Here is one he made in December 2020 featuring the Green's holiday decorations: https://www.facebook.com/daave... What is your favorite place to walk around in West Haven?
