WOBURN, MA — Four Woburn firefighter recruits graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in Stow last week, completing their 50-day career recruit firefighting training program, Fire Chief Donald Kenton announced on Monday.
Joseph Lilley, John Koster, Mark Iannacci & Robert Rafferty Jr. were four of 26 total graduates from 13 Massachusetts departments.
They received classroom training and practice opportunities under controlled fire conditions, among other things, as noted in a state announcement.
"First responders are on the frontlines protecting their communities, and these newest firefighters are needed now more than ever," State Fire Marshal Ostroskey said on Friday of last week. "The rigorous professional training they've received provides them with the physical, mental, and technical skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely."
In addition to Woburn, Massachusetts firefighting academy graduates included firefighters from Acton, Attleboro, Billerica, Blackstone, Chelmsford, Dracut, Gardner, Lexington, Plainville, Tewksbury, Westford and Wilmington.
