Job title: Thrift Warehouse Worker Classification: Non-exempt, full time Job Purpose: The Thrift Warehouse Worker position works in partnership with the Warehouse Driver and involves the collection, acceptance, storing and movement of donated items. The position helps to create a welcoming and appreciative environment for all donors and volunteers. Duties and responsibilities: • Accept Donations - Greet the donor in a friendly, professional manner and assist donor when needed. - Acknowledge donor and offer receipt. • Sort and Organize Donations - Sorts and organizes donations on a daily basis. - Disposes of items not in appropriate condition for resale. - Boxes and/or distributes items to the appropriate work sites within the store. • Assist the Store Manager - Moving furniture in and out of store. - Assist with loading purchases into customer’s vehicles. - Accommodate requests from volunteers when assistance is needed. (ex. use of ladder and lifting of heavy items). • Pickup and Delivery of Furniture - Greet the donor in a friendly and professional manner when both picking up donations from or delivering to private residence, storage units or businesses. - Handle all items with care and respect. • Store Safety and Security - Assure loading area and outside donation collection area is free from clutter and that tripping hazards are avoided. - Secure the dock daily at closing - Empty all trash receptacles. - Breakdown all empty cardboard boxes. - Secure the dock to include locking all gates. - Insure all doors to Store are secured. - Insure all merchandise displayed outside is secured within the store. Qualifications: • High School Diploma. • Customer Service experience preferred. • Strong cultural competence; ability to build positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including donors and volunteers for faith-based and grassroots organizations. Working conditions: • Requires flexibility to work weekends. • Must be able to work in areas that are not climate controlled. • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment. • May be exposed to dust, debris, animal hair, and any number of allergens. Physical requirements: • Ability to lift up 50 lbs. safely. • Must be able to walk up two flights of stairs carrying large objects. • Must be able to use a ladder and basic tools. • Must be able to continuously bend, stoop, and squat throughout the work shift.
