Job Summary: The General Laborer position handles various tasks throughout the factory. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to, assisting with hands-on physical labor, operation of machinery and following all site health and safety regulations. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential. This is a seasonal job typically running from August through May on one of four shifts, working three 40-hour weeks and one 48-hour week per month with additional overtime as required. Heavy lifting, the ability to work in confined spaces, at tall heights and various weather conditions may be required. Primary Responsibilities: • There are a wide variety of tasks that a laborer may be asked to complete. • May be assigned to a specific job after the training period. • May be asked to cover in a different position, if necessary, at any time. • Other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications: • Previous physical labor experience is preferred. • Ability to follow instructions given and complete tasks working alone or together with other employees. • Previous shift work experience preferred. Key Competencies: • Repetitive lifting or carrying items up to 40-50 lbs. • Shoveling sand, pulp, beets, etc. and using wheelbarrow to transport material. • Performing numerous cleaning activities with use of hot water and or pressure washers. • Climbing stairs and ladders and working on catwalks around equipment. • Driving forklifts, tractors with loader, skid-steers. • Bending, stooping, and twisting in order to reach areas for cleaning, shoveling or another assigned task. • Extended periods of walking. • Exposure to high and low temperatures throughout the factory and various weather conditions. • Operating hand or power tools. • Exposure to various chemicals and knowledge of proper personal protective equipment. • Attention to detail and ability to understand and complete good manufacturing practice paperwork If interested, please contact Erika at [email protected] or call me at 517-220-6139
