Do you know how to play bass? Do you want to play rock and roll music? Right here I'd like to confuse you by mentioning I want a piano player in the group too, and I don't have one. Most piano players seem to want to play at tea parties, or sing-alongs at company picnics. Do you turn down so the crowd can hear the vocals? Do you have any respect for the vocalists at all? Do you like Link Wray, Freddy Cannon? Richie Valens? Bobby Fuller? Little Richard? The Hanky Panky? Are you a flawed human being? You want to play originals. But the gigs require covers. You'll play covers that are pretty awful just to get on stage. In fact, you are already that bass player. You're in several bands. You deepest secret ambition was to play boogie blues all night. But you have no idea how to achieve your goals. You're going to play a Fender Precision bass with four strings. You're going to come up with an awful lot of good paying gigs for this band. You aren't content to rest on your laurels. You're going to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, play some music.
