Description

The Suicide from a Racial Justice and Latinx Lens workshop expands the concept of mental health by defining suicide as an injustice-assisted act. We will reflect on the multiple purposes and meanings of suicidal thinking, evaluate our fears and biases, and identify the forms of oppression that encourage and reinforce suicidality in Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other communities of People of Color. By the end of the workshop, participants will have Expanded their perception of mental health and suicide to include systemic influencesIdentified personal biases and social stereotypes about suicidal personsHighlighted specific oppressive conditions that can lead to suicidal thinking in Latinx communitiesAll students will receive an extra raffle ticket to use for the WNEU 9/29 LatinFest Event!!!
