Description

This October, The Frida Cinema is proud to present Beautiful Monsters: A Guillermo del Toro Film Retrospective and Tribute Art Show, featuring all eleven of the Academy Award-winning director’s feature films; three acclaimed films he produced; and seven films that served to inspire him. The series continues at The Frida Cinema with Julia's Eyes, a Spanish horror film directed by Guillem Morales. One day, Julia Levin randomly collapses, sensing a deeply malevolent occurrence. She soon discovers the cause: her blind twin sister, Sara, had just committed suicide. As she investigates the opaque circumstances surrounding her sister’s unforeseen death, Julia encounters a series of mysterious characters with whom she must decide whether or not to trust. All the while, her own eyesight continues to worsen to the point of dependency. A series of tightly held truths come to light, but will Julia’s eyes be able to see them? This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. To find out more about how National Endowment for the Arts grants impact individuals and communities, visit www.arts.gov.
