About the Southland Saints The Southland Saints Franchise operates under the highest level of integrity & accountability to our fans, players, and sponsors. We are dedicated to building community through youth programs, family enrichment, and professional growth initiatives. We are more than just a basketball organization; we are advocates for strong families and thriving communities. For more than 25 Years, the owners of the Southland Saints LLC., and Empowered Move, Inc. has invested in families, the youth, and their community. Our goal is to partner with local businesses in our efforts to connect families and the businesses in our community. Our players were recruited based on their professional basketball skill levels, their like-minded character, and their willingness to give back to the community. The Saints’ Head Coach and the Director of Player Development both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. Our head coach having played in the NBA and Elite Leagues overseas; and our development coach having also played overseas and specializing in developing players’ in skill, speed, agility, shooting, and game IQ, makes this coaching team a step above the rest! About the American Basketball Association League's (ABA) The ABA is the largest and most diversified sports league in the world, with leagues in Australia, Canada, Japan, and Mexico. The ABA is the re-launch of the original ABA which was established in 1967 and merged with the NBA in 1976, whereas the ABA teams New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets became teams that merged into the NBA. Many notable NBA Players who played in the ABA were Julius Irving (Dr. J), George Gervin (The Iceman), Ricky Barry, Moses Malone, along with many other ABA Players that became NBA Players. The ABA was reformed in the year 2000 and continues to grow in numbers and in popularity. The ABA has introduced new initiatives to include ABAGALE – The ABA Television Streaming Network, ABA X Radio, and operation Upgrade, putting the ABA in position to capture the attention of basketball enthusiastics across the globe. Two very important contributions the ABA brings to the U.S. and abroad; First, it offers NBA skilled players an opportunity to play professional basketball beyond the limited NBA draft spots available, and secondly, the ABA has opened doors of opportunity that Minorities would otherwise not have, the ownership of a professional basketball team. As Motivational Speakers, Corporate Trainers, Marriage Ministry Leaders, and Youth Mentors, Les and Monique, inspires and empowers individuals of all ages both personally and professionally to achieve the greatness for which they were created. They are also the founders and owners of Empowered Move Inc. Les & Monique value family and take pride in their closely knit blended family which include four children, a son- in law and three grandchildren. Les & Monique are both from closely knit and faith-based families. Their love for basketball and family-based entertainment led them to the American Basketball Associations’ fast-paced, exciting, and entertaining style basketball. Their vision for the Southland Saints basketball franchise was born.
