St. Paul Peterson, a teenage wunderkind who performed keys with The Time in Purple Rain before signing to Prince’s Paisley Park label as lead singer of The Family, is acknowledged as one of the best musicians to emerge from the Twin Cities.
St. Paul has come together with the “who’s who” of the Minnesota music scene to help create the “Minneapolis Sound.” This group of musicians have been hailed as one of the most vital R&B movements of the past 30 years and are bringing it all to the St. Cecilia theater. In the spirit of Motown’s Funk Brothers, the show will shine the spotlight on each musician who has written, produced or performed on the biggest hits of the era. From “Funkytown” to “fDeluxe,” these players are the architects of The Minneapolis Sound.
