Description
(Birmingham, AL) – Khairi and Little Angel’s Memorial (KLA Memorial) is no stranger to Jefferson County. KLA Memorial's upcoming in-person event coming Saturday, October 15, 2022, is significant in more ways than one. The organization wants to reduce and possibly help eliminate the infant and maternal mortality that exist among women of color. After all, no one knows what the outcome of any pregnancy will be but with education, awareness and a proactive plan these things can reduce negative outcomes in half if not more. Indeed, it is something no one wants to talk about, but we have to be mindful that the other side of pregnancy can happen to anyone at any time.
We have sent approximately 25 families to be counseled and the feedback has been phenomenal. We have relieved approximately 10 families of financial hardship with infant burials. The Family Planning Educational Summit Brunch & Infant Loss - Wave of Light was designed to allow families the opportunity to come out, obtain information and visit with vendors that are able to answer questions related to becoming parents and more. Those wishing to be a part of either event must R.S.V.P. at bit.ly/Wave2022 by October 1, 2022.
The event will have a variety of vendors that will be able to provide information on insurance, housing, childbirth, employment and much more. The Infant Loss - Wave of Light will be done virtually at 7 pm on October 15, which is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day. Families will light candles for their infant that has passed worldwide at 7 pm in each time zone.
