Description
I’m looking to join a band as guitarist/lead guitarist. No ego here. I’m open in regard to genre; I like playing classic rock, blues, surf rock, Tom Petty, Southern Rock, A bit of rockabilly/swing. Not much into “pop” or old-school country music nor Metal. I’m not a professional musician but rather a “very dedicated enthusiast”. I was playing lead guitar in a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tribute band until COVID hit and after that we lost our vocalist. We played only two gigs before March 2020, at the Whiskey and at The Canyon Club in Santa Clarita. Before that band, I was practicing with a Pink Floyd Tribute project for about a year. In the early 2000’s I played in a Rockabilly band, performing in small venues, ballrooms, and bars. We played Viva Las Vegas in I believe 2001 or 2002. And in 2005-2007 I played in an awesome Surf Instrumental band, even opening for The Surfaris once. I have top notch gear, all tube amps and excellent guitars including a few really nice vintage pieces. I’m pretty much geared-up for a Mike Campbell sound, playing through a ‘57 Tweed Deluxe (handmade) and a Princeton Reverb (’65 Reissue) set up together. I also have a ’67 Deluxe Reverb (original) in case I need more output but that’s rarely been necessary. My guitars include a Rickenbacker 12, a No-Caster telecaster, 59LP, Gold Top LP w/P-90’s, Bill Nash Strat, ‘74 SG, SG Junior, Mosrite, 61 Gretsch 6120, ’67 ES-345, J-45 and vintage Yamaha acoustics. Real 70's Echoplex. I really enjoy and gravitate towards that whole Gainesville sound from Petty/Campbell, Don Felder, Duane Allman etc. as well as Hendrix, Alvin Lee, SRV, Clapton etc. for Blues. Love Santana. I also have modeled a lot of my playing on Gilmour as well while playing in a Pink Floyd Tribute band. I do have a quite a bit of free time during the week and certainly on weekends. I’m 61 but I can pass for early 50’s. I’m 6-2, 218 lbs, pretty fit. I’m easy going yet focused. I don't drink, don't do drugs. I want to have fun first and foremost! but I also like sounding good, tight. I’m also really interested in eventually gigging out somewhat regularly with no expectation of $$ ($$ is not my prime motivation). I can send some studio practice demos from my Tom Petty Tribute pre-pandemic band. I’m located in 90031/Lincoln Heights and work in Burbank. Text
