Cooperstown Center Residents & Staff Get Vaccinated

Residents and staff at Cooperstown Center, the 174-bed nursing and rehabilitation skilled nursing facility on Phoenix Mills Cross Road, received their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on December 29, the first day Walgreens pharmacists made their way to the facility. Over 76 percent of the residents in the building received the vaccine and that number pleased leadership. "This was a great first day as we aid in the fight against this virus," said Levi Lazar, Administrator at Cooperstown Center. "When Walgreens returns on January 19, these folks will receive their second vaccine and we hope others will want to get their first." Cooperstown Center resident Joseph Dean gets vaccinated. Only about 20 percent of staff members agreed to get vaccinated. This has been a nationwide trend with some healthcare workers who prefer to take the "wait and see" approach. Additionally people who were positive for COVID-19, need to wait two weeks after being tested negative in order to receive the vaccine. Mark Pettengill, a long-time resident of Cooperstown Center, was pleased to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.By and large, Cooperstown Center has done very well during the pandemic. Aside from sporadic positive cases and zero deaths since the pandemic began, the facility remains COVID free.
