DETROIT — A Detroit Police officer is recovering after his partner accidentally shot him in the leg Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police said the shooting happened in Detroit near Hackett Street and Prevost Avenue where officers responded to a caller who was suicidal around 5 p.m.
As officers approached the home, a dog from a nearby home charged at them, prompting the officer to fire a round, which missed the dog and struck the officer, police said.
The officer was taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital and listed in stable condition. The dog was not struck by any shots, police said.
