METRO DETROIT — As gas prices continue falling across Michigan, drivers in the Metro Detroit area are paying the highest averages in the state, according to AAA.
For a regular gallon of gas Monday morning, motorists in the Metro Detroit area paid an average of $3.91, which is eleven cents higher than the state average, and 23 cents more than the national average of $3.68, according to AAA.
"After some price fluctuations, Michigan motorists are beginning to see prices drop once again," AAA Spokeswoman Adrienne Woodland said. "If demand continues to fall, alongside lower crude prices, then gas prices will likely continue to decline."
Gas prices in Oakland County were the highest in the metro Detroit area and among the highest in the state at $3.95. Wayne and Macomb counties saw an average of $3.89 Monday morning, according to AAA.
Prices across Michigan and the metro Detroit area ticked down four cents from last week, according to AAA.
The most expensive gas prices in the state include: Metro Detroit $3.91, Ann Arbor $3.88 and Traverse City $3.86. The cheapest gas prices in the state include Grand Rapids $3.68, Benton Harbor $3.70 and Lansing $3.72.
