older dog please help

I was given this dog and it's not how the person told me he acted 9 years old was told his previous owner passed away He has bitten me multiple times and I can't keep him with him doing it randomly I have a 10 month old and I can't risk her getting bit I tried emailing the person back and No reply I no longer know what to do and don't want him in the pound
