Loudon Drive near Route 9, Fishkill NY

Description

These two sweethearts survived a hawk attack that took out the rest of our flock. We call the gray one Lundy (for London Fog) and the colorful one EB (for everything bagel). Long story short, we had a house fire in June that displaced us. We have been living in a rental home in Fishkill and visiting our home in Wappingers daily to take care of our chickens while our house is being rebuilt. Without us being on site day in and day out, the presence of wildlife has dramatically increased, and their predators have become quite creative in finding ew ways to breech their once secure run. EB appears unharmed, just shaken up, but Lundy was nearly scalped. She lost all of her feathers on her crown and has two sizable lacerations. She is also limping some. They are currently living on the front porch of our rental in a make shift coop/run, but we can’t keep them here. We are looking for one of our ridiculously compassionate chicken compadres (you know who you are) to give these two another chance to live amongst a docile flock - no roosters. There was one other hen that survived, but we’ve brought her inside to heal. Her eye and ear were severely maimed. The eye is shut and the ear is gone, I think. She has ate and drank a bit, but mostly she just sleeps in my arms or on the back of the sofa. I’d be willing to let her go as well, but only to someone who has the patience and live to nurse her back to health at her own pace. She will need to be a house chicken for the unforeseen future. We cal her Elf because she sat on a shelf in my office over Christmas last year because she lost nearly all of her feathers and needed the warmth of our home while she grew them back. She is a small Buff Orpington and my absolute favorite hen of all time. If you text me, I’ll send you photos of her current condition. Only experienced chicken enthusiasts, please … this would be too much for a first time owner. Thanks!
