pilot light going out on water heater

I believe I need the thermo couple replaced on a water heater in downtown Belleville. The pilot light keeps going out and its taking longer to light each time. Let me know that you have done this many times before and what you would charge. I put a new thermo couple on it but didn't get it in the flame enough, so could be a simple fix.
