RJOY (Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth) is hosting a free film screening of "Healing Justice" for Oakland residents to generate community healing conversations. Please register if you are truly planning to attend the screening because seats are limited. The film screening will be held at the New Parkway Theater, on Monday September 26, 2022, from 6pm-8pm. Please try to arrive 15 minutes early. Film Description Healing Justice explores the causes and consequences of the current North American justice system and its effect on marginalized communities. The film walks through the history of violence that has led to our current system, bringing into focus the histories of trauma – on a personal, interpersonal, community, and generational level. This powerful documentary addresses the school-to-prison pipeline, the need for comprehensive criminal justice reform, and the importance of healing and restorative practices. This event is hosted by RJOY (Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth) and sponsored by Oakland Department of Violence Prevention.
