Wanted: Sailing Enthusiasts and Artists! Camden FireWorks is partnering with Urban BoatWorks on a unique opportunity to design and create paddles for use in future paddling seasons. In the first session (10/6), participants will fabricate a wooden paddle using tools such as a table saws and hand planers. The second session (10/13) is devoted to refining the paddle using tools such as hand sanders and rasps. During the final session (10/20), participants will add their artistic signature by designing and painting the paddle.Paddles will be donated to Urban BoatWorks - so this is your chance to literally put your art on the Delaware River. (Participants must be 18 and older.) Participation in this event is solely by choice and participation itself relinquishes any responsibility of Camden FireWorks and Urban BoatWorks as organizations or any of their Officers for any and all liabilities resulting in participation in this event.About Urban BoatWorks Urban BoatWorks teaches middle and high school youth how to build wooden paddleboats, canoes, and kayaks. Since the program’s first year in 2009, 47 boats have been handcrafted and launched on the water. About Camden FireWorks Camden FireWorks uses art to create social change. Since 2016, FireWorks has provided low/no-cost arts programs such as exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events...all from the beauty of a historic firehouse.
