THURSDAY 10/27, 6:00 - 7:00 PM
FRIDAY 10/28, 6:00 - 7:00 PM
Join us on this cemetery walk to discover some amazing Canterbury tales, presented by the ghosts of the historical figures who actually lived them! Specters will guide groups of 20 guests on a tour through the Canterbury Center Cemetery to the gravesites of founders whose names were used for well-known Canterbury roads in their honor. Hear about a girl orphaned during the Revolutionary War, who grew up to be a successful doctor. Learn about an enslaved man who gained his freedom, and then bought the freedom of the love of his life and started a family whose name is still on our maps today. Be regaled with tales from Canterbury's first preacher to a guest ghost of national renown!
Event is limited to 100 people per night, so purchase tickets well in advance to reserve your spot. Tickets are refundable and transferrable. All proceeds to benefit the Canterbury Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 16-1657874).
Plenty of free parking is available at the cemetery. Tour duration is approximately 30 minutes, and given in groups of 20 people (tours start approximately every 10 minutes). Path will be lit with lanterns only. Graveyard ground is uneven, and sturdy shoes are recommended.
NO STROLLERS, NO COSTUMES, NO PETS. No restrooms on site.
NOTE: Though we are providing an entertaining event, we ask that all attendees remember to respect this hallowed burial ground. Guests must stay on the marked path, follow their guide, and refrain from touching the headstones. Thank you for understanding.
