HAMDEN, CT — Part of Whitney Avenue in Hamden will be temporarily closed on Thursday as part of an investigation into a fatal crash that happened early New Year's Day, according to police.
The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of 2200 Whitney Avenue, near Buell Street, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Investigators will close a portion of Whitney Avenue at 8 p.m. on Jan. 7 for around an hour and a half, according to Smith.
"The road will be closed between Buell Street and Millbrook Road," Smith said. "Police vehicles, barricades, detour signs and traffic cones will be utilized."
James McKenna, 55, of North Haven, was killed in the head-on crash.
